Making the best use of the Internet for weather forecasts

Weather information is available from many sources on the internet. The trick is to identify those sources most suited to your needs and then make the most up-to-date version of that information permanently available on your Desktop PC, Notebook PC, PDA or WAP Mobile Phone. Weather faxes by fax-machine are now outdated due to poor resolution and cost.

PC / Notebook PC

Unless you do not have a permanent connection to the internet it is useful to make the required information available OFF LINE. That is, you will be to access the most recently downloaded version when not connected to the internet; so when you take your Notebook PC to the boat you will still be able to look at the weather faxes.

Making information available off line - Internet Explorer

First..... access the site via our links. Next, ensure you have Favorites selected from IE top menu, then click on ADD (bookmark) at top of left hand Favorites Bar. For neatness - make a weather folder/or choose your weather folder. Type a name for your bookmark, e.g. 0H weather fax and select OK.
Next..... Place mouse cursor over bookmark & right click. select 'make available off line' from the pop-up menu, a new pop-up will appear, then keep clicking OK until the end of the pop up menu.
Repeat.... Add as many bookmarks as you need, and make them available off line.
Done.... Now the info. is available when you do not have an internet connection. When you click on the Bookmark the dial-up pop-up will show. Just click Work-off-line to get the retained info.

Updating the info.
From IE Tools menu ..... click on synchronise. The PC will ask to connect, if not on-line, and pop-up the synchronise menu. Select synchronise button.
