We made our main sheet easier to tension by adding a fine tune.My Maxi 1100 was supplied with a pair of Frederiksen tripple blocks. When trimming the sail close hauled, it is hard work trimming the main-sheet. I have fitted a fine tune system, this makes it easy to tension the sail. I have fitted a pair of double sheeve blocks and a second trim-sheet to my mainsheet system. I have used Ronstan bearing blocks. The new system gives a 24:1 purchase on the main sheet, this makes tensioning and fine-trimming the main-sail easy. We take care when trimming, we don't pull too hard least we break the boom. So copy us and implement this mod at your own RISK!
I have also replaced the main-sheet clam-cleat with a Spinlock Power Cleat, this makes releasing and cleating much easier. Taranaki |
